Junior golf

Tiger Woods ushered in a whole new outlook on the world of golf.
Now children as young as three to five are showing an interest in
learning to play the sport. In fact junior golf has become "one of
the most popular new sports for kids in North America" and it is most
definitely a fun sport for kids. If your child is showing an interest
in learning to play golf you could either teach him or her some tricks
of the golf trade at home or you could opt for sending your child to one
of the many golf camps throughout the United States. Both options are good
ones and you might decide to first teach your kid at home and then allow him
or her to fine tune his beginner skills working with a skilled teacher at a camp.
Regardless of where your child learns to play, it is important to buy golf
clubs that will be suitable. It is strongly recommended that children as young
as 2 to 5 years of age be given ladies golf clubs to learn with as they are
lighter, shorter in length and therefore easier to handle. It is important as
well that the lie on the club be made flatter as clubs oriented towards adults
can be too stiff and straight for little hands. A six to ten year old should
still be golfing with a ladies club but at this age a child can handle a wedge
as well as a three wood and two irons being added. An eleven to fourteen year
old kid is ready for a full set of ladies golf clubs but ensure that they are
the conventional length. Finally a boy around the age of fifteen has graduated
to being able to play with a full set of men's golf clubs.
